My Nephews

We went to my Dad's rest house in Bulacan for the weekend. Kids went swimming and adults... watched TV. haha

This first shot is Javi at exactly 8 months and 1 day. Cute!

This second one is a photo of the next Michael Phelps! haha we wish! he just loves the water, nothing competitive. It took me around 10 mins to fix up 2 speedlights on stands, umbrellas and a couple of filters. And all he gave me was 2 mins! He isnt even on the national team yet and he's giving me attitude! haha Oh and when I was about to pack up I saw something fall in the corner of my eye. *Crash* I saw my stand, my speedlight with shoot thru umbrella on the ground! OUCH! good thing its still working.

Lunch at the Fort

Had lunch in the Fort today and saw supposedly life sized models of Dinos. Enzo had a field day with them. Caffe Puccini brought them in. An Italian resto bringing in Dinos? Don't ask me why but thanks Caffe Puccini coz my little nephew had a blast!

Gadget Infinity / Cactus / Ebay Trigger Mod

I've read a lot of reviews and instructions on how to increase the range and reliability of the gadget infinity wireless triggers so i decided to just go on and try to make mine.

I'd just like to say that this little tutorial was made after i finished. I did not document the procedure step by step. I was too psyched on making it work and didn't really bother with the documentation.

After this modification, the triggers became more stable. They fired every single time i clicked the shutter. and when I wasn't clicking the flashes did not go off. It just simply made my triggers so much more convenient to use.

Materials you will be needing:
Soldering gun
soldering iron
soldering paste
gauge 26 wire (3 in only)
radio antenna 430-450mhz

Here is a set of wireless triggers.

Next open the transmitter and you will find a little hole on the upper left side of the board. (sorry i forgot to mark it)

in that little hole you want to solder a wire (gauge 26 is fine) because you dont want it to be too thick and become too rigid. you would also want to keep it within 3 inches so that you can keep the frequency.

Next, on the cover side try to find out where you can bore a hole for the external antenna. make sure it clears the board. because the connector goes pretty deep into the transmitter. so the upper right area of the cover seems to be the best place for it. Then when you fix the antenna on the cover of the transmitter solder the wire you got to the antenna connector. Its pretty thin so make sure not to burn the terminal and the plastic around it.

Here is the finished product.

Ive tested it already and the range is really something else. here are a few examples.
This was taken about 30-35 feet away. 24mm on a full frame.

This one was around 80-85 feet away. 50mm on a full frame. I put the red gel on the speedlight so we can see it perfectly.

This next one i ran out of space to move the speedlight forward so i moved the camera back around 15-20feet, totaling around 100 feet. still with at 50mm on a full frame.

I didn't want to go any further cause it was kinda tiring already! haha Enjoy!

4D Echo

Went to the doctor today for Trisia's monthly check up. Everything is going A-OK! great news! The doctor advised us to go get a congenital anomaly scan to see how the little Princess is doing. So we went on over to our friendly neighborhood scan clinic... 10 fingers, 10 toes, and everything in between! nice!

Anawangin Cove and Capones Island

Hopped in a van and went to Zambales for the long weekend. This time we went to a surfers spot (since surfing this weekend will be in Baler, Aurora) we were somewhat assured of calm waters. We would want that since we visited a couple of islands.

This photo was taken en route to Anawangin cove, Zambales. Funny thing was, I have not heard of this place ever, so to my suprise when we got there was a whole community! it was like tent city! People stayed overnight on the beach with no electricity, no potable water and no bathrooms. I used to go with some of the camping and mountain climbing orgs in U.P. so this was a really welcome surprise for me!

After we went to Capones Island, (ka-po-nes) not pronounced like the mob lord. Just stayed a bit and did some snorkeling. Heres a photo of Manny and his girlfriend Liz, Manny forgot to take his tribal shirt off for this shot. Hey wait a minute... that isnt a shirt! haha
